Experience Sussex: Guided cycle Tours

Cycling and Walking Adventures

Guided cycling is a great way to explore secret Sussex. Our qualified bicycle tour leader Mark leads guided tours of the local area tailored to your ability and particular interests (e.g. history, geology, wildlife, literature, art).

Examples of full day circular cycle routes, using quiet lanes;

Explore author Rudyard Kipling’s rolling, wooded High Weald and Mad Jack Fullers Pyramids
Pevensey Levels reclaimed marshland with its ancient dykes and castles
South Downs National Park with spectacular views and pretty flint villages
The routes have been carefully planned for maximum interest, enjoyment and safety.

We can take regular refreshment breaks, and stop to hear about the local area. For those who’d like a gentler pace, there are many interesting shorter loops we can take using the old railway line (called the Cuckoo Trail) on NCR21, which is now part of the London to Paris Avenue Verte.

Mark is a qualified Trail Cycle Leader with up to date first aid training and Public Liability insurance. We have five new bikes and safety equipment for activity tour guests to use.

Experience Sussex: Guided Rambles

Mark runs guided walks over fields and through woods, linking in with footpaths to explore the natural beauty and wildlife in this unique area of the weald. At the same time you can learn about some of our local historical characters.

Circular Hiking routes can be planned to include pubs or picnic stops and tailored to the group’s fitness levels, interests and weather conditions.

We could visit the South Downs National Park for some unforgettable rambling, views and bird watching whilst following the old smugglers bye ways and maybe find some of their hideaways and watering holes.

The guided walking routes have been carefully planned for maximum interest, enjoyment and safety.

You’ll need stout walking boots or wellies and warm waterproofs.

Our Sussex walking or cycling tours can include visits to National Trust properties such as Kipling’s Batemans, the castles of Bodiam, Pevensey and Herstmonceux, haunted Michelham Priory, Eastbourne’s seafront and Beachy Head, Cuckmere Haven, Charleston farmhouse and Berwick Church (Bloomsbury set), Battle Abbey, the historic town of Lewes with its antique shops. Our itineraries are not fixed and can be varied to suit your group’s particular interests.
